Gallery of Contemporary Photography – Antigonish

There’s a new gallery in town!   Kirk Place on the corner of Main Street and Church Street in Antigonish has opened its doors to become the Gallery of Contemporary Photography.  Brian MacLeod, a leading local businessman and patron of the arts has partnered with Antigonish Photographers eXhibit to create a space to exhibit works from local photographers.

The Gallery opened on February 6, 2012 with an Opening Reception with the exhibition theme “Winter Light”.  Not only are there the framed photographs from 10 photographers, there is also a digital display with 100 photos showing a variety of styles.   There was a good turnout of people for the event who seemed to be enjoying the photos and a chance to meet the photographers.

The exhibition runs till the end of April, 2012.  There is no entry charge and you are encouraged to browse.  Pick up the printed brochure with details of contact information for the photographers.

APx will be holding an Open House for interested photographers in the community sometime in the Spring.  Please sign up on the APx website to receive a notice of the meeting date and location.

New Public Gallery Exhibits Winter Light by APx

Poster Winter LightThere is a new Public Gallery in town at 219 Main St. which exhibits Contemporary Photography. Under the auspices of Brian MacLeod the lobby area of Kirk Place has been transformed in to a beautiful and accessible public gallery space, featuring 22 framed images and a digital display screen running a continuous show of a hundred more photographic images by the now renowned group APx (Antigonish Photographers Exhibit). They followed that with an entirely new exhibition titled Antigonish Town and County for the 2011 Highland Games and summer visitors to our region.
